Brazilian mix of architecture

A curiosity is the new capital Brasilia. Only about 50 years old the city is completely different from other cities in the country. It was planned by Luzio Costa and created by the great architect Oscar Niemayer. It was built in the attempt to decentralize the government, which used to be in Rio de Janeiro.
At the other end of the scale you find the old colonial cities, such as Salvador, Paraty and Olinda. These cities were inhabited by the Portuguese when they came to Brazil.
